2023 UCI World Masters Track Cycling Championships - Day 5

DAY 5, Wednesday, October 3

SUMMARY

Day 5 of the 2023 UCI World Masters Track Cycling Championships at Britain’s National Cycling Centre in Manchester was a busy one with no less than 13 World Champion Santini rainbow jerseys awarded to riders from around the world. The day was a mix of races with Sprinting, Team Sprinting, Scratch and Points races. The most successful nations on the night were Australia and Great Britain with four Gold medals each, the same as the night before, whilst the USA won two, Norway two and France one.

  • PHOTO 2: In the Men's 55/59 Points race, Jens Bolme (Norway) was one delighted winner ahead of Britain's Martin Perrett and John Fiddies.
  • PHOTO 3: Day 5's evening session saw lots of Points racing on the Manchester boards.
  • PHOTO 6: The night also saw a number of crashes - healing vibes to all the riders
  • PHOTO 7: In an all Australian final, Gary Mandy won yet another title against the equally successful compatriot Geoff Stoker in the Sprint for 60-64
  • PHOTO 8: the championships has seen World Tour team owner (Israel/Premier Tech) Sylvan Adams competing and is pictured on the attack in the 65-69 Points race where he was 4th.
  • PHOTO 9: One of the most spectacular crashes during the evening saw a group of riders hit the deck in the 70-74 Points race. After a long delay, racing resumed and riders on the podium were showing the scars of the crash. Healing vibes to them.
